What a GREAT time I had yesterday at the MDRF! Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] dreamtigress for getting me in for zero $.

Since the weather was going to be awesome all day, I decided to to ride the Wing. Chaps and a lightweight sweatshirt under my riding jacket was all I needed to keep me toasty warm. My sexy new RayBan sunglasses worked very well for the bike; both for the sun protection part and for keeping the wind out of my eyes. The distortion was not as bad as I thought it would be for my peripheral vision.

[livejournal.com profile] dreamtigress let me borrow some of her clothes (again) since I don't really fit into my dress anymore. She picked a really pretty dark bronze blouse with a maroon skirt and the really nice floral corset that we think I wore last time. She also re-worked my chain mail headpiece into a necklace for me that fits much better than the old one did. (I plan on making another bracelet and earrings from the old necklace.)

Throughout the day I alternated between hanging out at the booth and wandering about the Faire. It was awesome to see [livejournal.com profile] dreamtigress in action and making customers happy. I helped out when I could and prudently did not offer to do any codpiece fittings. ::: evil grin :::

Fortunately I got to partake in some of my favorite things of Faire including stopping by each of the pottery shops, drinking mead and seeing The Rogues play.

Of course, I ogled over a lot of pottery but my 'big' purchase of the day was a tiny piece that is perfect to put toothpicks in for the whooping price $3.00.

It was fun to see [livejournal.com profile] insegnante (aka Gimby the Wrong Tongue) and [livejournal.com profile] renniecub and lots of other great folks. I also got to meet the very talented [livejournal.com profile] dansr which was a treat after admiring her music.

Since I had dogs that needed attention at home (including the stray Pit Bull), I could not stay for pub sing or dinner. While there was a bit more traffic going home than there was in the morning, the ride home was not all that bad ... with the exception of motorcycle idiots. Much to my chagrin, I kept witnessing complete morons on two wheels throughout my ride home.

The first sighting was a gaggle of sportbike riders who passed several cars on the right and on the shoulder in a merge area at a high rate of speed. I cringed and was fairly certain I would hear a tire squeal (or worse) as I watched them dodge between merging cars.

Next up were some riders who passed me while we were riding in the HoV lane. The first two of several bikes did a proper lane change. The third bike chose to pass me in my lane; this is called lane splitting which happens to be illegal and is just pretty darned stupid with someone you do not know. Later this same rider started to exit the highway, changed his mind at the last second and swung back onto the main road - directly in front of a car.

The next batch of idiots were some more squids (sportbike riders) weaving in and out of traffic while riding too fast and without using turn signals.

Closer to home there was a guy riding a small sportbike; he had the thing wound up so tight I thought it was going to explode. Apparently his turn signals were not working either.

The last asphalt atrocity may or may not have been a bike doing the stupidity. I was stopped at a red light and when it turned green, there was a loud squeal of tires from the oncoming lane. Seems I was not the only one to notice it though ... the state trooper who was also waiting popped his lights and took off after whoever it was.

The dogs were glad to see me when I finally got home.

What a fun day!

I would have gone over and taken care of the dogs for you, if you could have stayed over in Baltimore, Tiger wasn't using HER bed,, LOL, then maybe you could have hit the faire again, how often do you get to have fun when the big guy isn't home!
