Weekend update

Since the push mower from Mom was not ready to be picked up at the repair shop, I was given a loaner push mower to use for the weekend. It started right up and since it is not a self-propelled mower, it is very light and easy to push. Over the course of the weekend, the entire yard got mowed. Wilma was nice enough to do the drain field and I did the rest.
Treadmill = zero (but I got a LOT walking in pushing a 22" mower around!)
Saturday turned in a mini errand day with stops at Lowe's, Verizon, AT&T, SunTrust and IHOP for lunch. My new favorite salad is this huge chicken strip and spinach salad at IHOP. It was very yummy. Now only if the kitchen staff would get the concept of serving on a cold plate instead of a warm one.
My first ABR paycheck has been deposited. YAY!
Between visits to Verizon and AT&T, I learned a lot about smart phones. I was expecting to be overwhelmed with choices, but at both stores it seemed that only 2-3 phones really fit the bill for me and it was easy to pick the winner at each place. The Verizon folks were infinitely more helpful, let me play with live phones and answered at least 413 questions with ease. The Model I like best so far is a Motorola Droid. Long story short is that this phone can do everything except for mow the lawn.
On Sunday Mom, Wilma and the three remaining pit bull puppies came to visit. We enjoyed a very yummy beef eye round roast (or some such) in the rotisserie, freshly baked Italian cheese bread from my bread machine, French cut green beans and crustless coconut pie for dessert. YUM!
Mom had gotten me a plum tree and we planted it in the front island where it will get lots of sun and hopefully be a happy plum tree.
Tucker and Duchess found out what it is like to be Uncle and Auntie to the puppies. Tucker would knock the puppies over just be pushing them with his big nose. It was great fun watching the dogs and playing with cute puppies is always one of my favorite past times.
We saw a pair of hummingbirds at the feeder this afternoon. I guess the cool weather is keeping them away. In addition to several all yellow irises that are blooming, my second all white bloom is in its glory and it's a ruffled one.
The weather is cool and comfortable - I wish it would stay like this for a long time!
Happy Mother's Day to all ... even if you just have furry children.
