pandasheart: I am pony! Hear me roar! (rapidash)
We have been lucky with the rains in our area ... some street closings but nothing too major. Our IT guy's basement apartment flooded, but I have not heard too many other tales of woe from my co-workers. One driving rain ended up putting a small amount of water in my garage; blowing some wetness in around the door seal, but that seems to be it. The lawn which was looking a bit brown ~ much to the ex's chagrin ~ is now much happier with this second lease on life. Of course, that will end soon with summer settling down on us.

Speaking of said IT guy ... he recognized the Pony Rapidash that I use on my LJ (I also have it on my slide show screen saver). He wondered if I had been "into" Pokemon. I said no, just the ponies & mentioned that I had a picture of Pony Ta as well. He explained that he had been a Pokemon kid which made me feel old.

With the volatile weather, we have been having some fog as well. On my way to work, I pass over the Rapidan River & often it is socked in with fog, especially with all the storms we have been having (although this morning it was quite clear). Fog is sort of sexy & eery all at the same time.

Normally with all the rain, I would be missing my motorcycle, but with the ex taking it all the time, I was already jonsing for it. Letting him take my Wing has been better than I thought, but I will admit to worrying about him more than normal. The money he's saving in gas is pretty substantial. Maybe he'll use his savings to buy ME a present ... LOL

I received an interesting letter yesterday from the imaging center that performed my mammogram last year. It seems that they would like to call my doctor & ask her to prescribe another one. Solicitation from the imaging center! Unbelievable.

I am sipping on some fresh brewed ice tea as I type this. The VP got me in habit of doing this again ... her father was British & imparted his love of fresh brewed tea. I make a huge cup of hot tea, let it steep a bit (with 5 packets of Splenda) & then pour it over a tall glass filled with ice. Yummy.

We have company from NJ coming in for the whole week. They will be arriving late tonight via motor home & will stay through July 9th. They are awesome folks; a husband & wife that I have known since 1994. They are both firefighters & just absolutely great people. I took Monday off so I could spend some extra time with them; a 4-day weekend will be nice! The ex was not able to take Monday off because two folks on his crew are already off & since his evaluation is coming up, he knows better than to rock the boat.

I've spent all week trying to get my office sorted out. I'm not quite done, but am shooting to have it all set the way I want it by the time I leave today. My old roommate is probably taking his fridge home today. I will miss it greatly.

Time for me to get back to work!
