pandasheart: Panda's Heart (pony welcome)
Although the crew got started a little later than anticipated, they got a lot accomplished through the day. The entire old roof is gone; it fit into the back of a small dump truck. The entire front half of the house and the entire garage are covered with tar paper and ice dam.

This was really some process to watch! The old shingles were indeed very brittle - they had a good life and served the house very well though. Two small additional trouble spots were found under the old roof that will be repaired tomorrow along with the issues that we knew we had.

The highlight of the day by far was when the new shingles were delivered. The truck has a huge remote-controlled boom on it that lifts an entire pallet of shingles to the top of the roof. Once the pallet is hovering over the roof peak, it is unloaded with the bundles of new roofing being spread along the entire roof ridge.

While the roofing crew was doing their thing I worked in the flower beds (well, when not taking pictures of the work in progress). During the process, I uncovered the first newt of the year and found a family of snails living under one of the gutter drain things. The yard is looking a bit better although I wish I had the energy to rake the entire thing. With not being able to get up all the leaves and the oaks apparently having a banner year for acorns, the yard still needs some serious work.
