Looking good
September 28th, 2012 09:57 pmThe weather, that is! It's looking to be perfect weather for ren faire this weekend. With the temperature forecast to be in the low 70's each day,
daecabhir is planning on wearing his ultra sexy duster and cavalier hat. < insert wolf whistle here > Cooler temps also mean that I can wear my leather corset (which mentions previously mention sexy Panda garb).
This week was a busy one but I managed to spend a fair amount in the studio. Tuesday's wheel work turned out to be nothing but practice but fortunately I had better luck the next two days. Thursday's wheel time also produced three pieces of "Rosewood" pottery; the special pottery I am creating for a friend that contains some of her horse's hair. A new smaller square yarn bowl has been designed and the first one is drying. With everything made so far, I should be able to run a bisque fire early next week and then get a glaze kiln run in time for my back-to-back show weekend on October 6-7.
I've added another craft show to my fall schedule - this one in Fredericksburg on October 27th - giving me five days at four shows so far to peddle pottery.
Poor Tucker. When I went to load up the dogs in the Endeavor this afternoon to drop them off at
njzoomom's, he didn't quite make the jump onto the back seat and fell against the SUV. Duchess was already jumping in behind him and she ended up landing right on top of him. I think it scared them both more than hurt them, but I ended up helping both dogs into the Endeavor. Hopefully it was just a fluke; otherwise, we'll need to build or buy some sort of ramp for them.
In knitting news, this week I've sent off two pairs of mitten to our friends, Allen and Sherri. Allen's are a surprise (made in Virginia Tech colors) but Sherri knows about hers. The ones for Sherri were a little bit of challenge since she has little hands and wanted a specific fit. Hopefully they fit and she likes them. Recently, I have been working on a fingerless glove design for the loom; one that has an open thumb but is done all on one loom (most loom knitters knit the thumb separately and then sew it in). I really want to get the design sort sorted out because I am on the hook to knit a pair for a lady in Scotland as pair of a 'knit-it-forward' project on Ravelry. Don't worry, someone is knitting me a pair as well!
Good news came today ~
1painter42's husband came home from the hospital. Hopefully he gets to stay there for a while this time.
